Sight Words: Your child will be expected to read the following sight words by the end of kindergarten: a, the, can, at, I, am, like, is, big, in, it, but, look, see, my, we, little, have, not, do, what, one, two, three, here, to, up, get, and, where, you, that, go
In the classroom, the children use Starfall to practice reading skills. I encourage you to use this site at home as well.
Homework: Many parents wonder if their child will have homework in kindergarten. I have several literacy bags the children may check out as homework to reinforce skills we are working on in the classroom. The bags are optional. The children may have a special homework project to do on occasion. Generally, they do not have assigned daily homework.
Birthdays: Birthdays are special in kindergarten! Your child may bring a snack to share with the class on his/her birthday. (All treats must be store bought, not homemade. Thank you!)
Lunch and Recess: The children will go outside everyday (weather permitting) for recess from 10:45-11:15. They eat lunch right after that, 11:20-11:50.
SPECIAL EVENTS IN FEBRUARY:
We will celebrated Valentine’s Day Friday, February 12. It was a fun day!
*The 100th day of kindergarten was February 19th. We had fun celebrating the number 100 in all kinds of ways!
Our dramatic play area has turned into a pet hospital. Maybe we have some future veterinarians in our class!
